We're off and racing
Thanks to everyone who came to our first meeting last night. I was stoked to have 9 people at the first meeting for an emerging area of technology like Flash Lite (and in Brisbane too!) and really encouraged by the quality of people in the group.
Apart from some minor technical problems with the OZMaD email (which have now been fixed) it all went off pretty smoothly I think!
Following up on the conversation regarding looking forward to what the group can provide, here's what we'll aim to do:
- Having some hands-on or more "teaching" type content to bring into focus specific techniques, mobile platform "quirks and tricks", best practice
- Have presentation content relating to the mobile platform outside Flash Lite
- Have some content presented via Breeze from overseas sources
- Look at a collaborative project the group could work on to actually produce some Flash Lite content
- Provide as much industry knowledge as possible to give members insight into what's happening in the real-world market place in mobile and Flash Lite.
So keep watching the site for new links and content, plus details about the next meeting. We'll try and hold them monthly from here - easiest to say the last Monday of the month - but there may need to be some slight date changes every now and again ... but www.ozmadgroup.com is where all the info will be.
Thanks again for the support, I think we're going to have a very productive and rewarding time together as a growing usergroup.
Inaugural OZMaD Meeting - May 29
We're having our first OZMaD meeting this month on
Monday the 29th of May, starting at 6.30pm (running to about 8pm). Since it's our first one, we'll be spending some time with those of you who can make it, just talking about what you'd like to see from the group in terms of direction, topics, speakers, activities, etc.
I'll also deliver a short session entitled "The State of Play - Where's Flash Lite At Right Now?". It'll just be a snapshot of the current Flash mobile landscape, key players and expectations for the immediate future. We're also planning an OZMaD Flash Lite application for helping you keep meeting info, etc up to date via your FL enabled phone.
**For internationals**
Some people from outside Brisbane (and Australia) have asked to be on the membership role. This is cool, but please note that we probably won't Breeze-ify this first meeting. At the very least, I'll post any presentation files used on the night.
So here are the details:
- When: Monday May 29th, 6.30 - 8.30pm
- Venue: i.Lab - Level 1, 80 Jephson Street, Toowong (Brisbane)
- Some food and drinks provided
- Adobe giveaways (be the only kid on your block with an Adobe mobile SIM card backup/reader keyring!)
- RSVP to ozmad@moket.com.au by Thursday May 25
We hope to see you there!
